Jason Hou Rips it up on the AlphaSphere

Fresh from Beijing, AlphaSphere user Jason Hou rocks out with his sphere, check out this video he sent us…

The crazy thing about a new musical instrument, is that when you start out there is no set playing style. If you look at musical instruments that have been established for 100’s of years, traditions have been created around these, and we know what to expect. Of course, every so often true innovators come along, and redefine the way we consider a musical instrument… look at Jimmi Hendrix with the electric guitar. Or look at the original legendsĀ responsible for introducing the Saxophone to Jazz, an instrument originally designed with military bands in mind. Consider how time has shaped our perception of these instruments, and consider how these instruments have shaped music…

That is why it always is really exciting to see what our users are coming up with and when Jason sent us this link to his youtube channel, we were delighted. Demonstrating a tidy playing style and some monstrous sounds; we know Jason hasn’t had his ‘sphere much more than a year, but he’s already doing this with it! Imagine where he will be in four or five years time… showing us how it’s done, no doubt. Jason has also put the tune he’s made ‘Steering The Sphere’ up online as a free download, be sure to check out his Soundcloud page for more wonders.
